Also, there were rises in sales of electrical machinery(12.9%), due to semiconductors (8.9%) and IC (8.9%) others (31.5%), mainly led by scientific, optical instruments (15.0%) chemicals (16.3%), linked to plastic materials (3.0%) and manufactured goods (12.4%), lifted by iron & steel (11.2%) and non-ferrous metals (12.5%). Still, this was the 18th straight month of growth in shipments, with sales of machinery growing 17.0%, driven by semicon machinery (22.4%) and power generating machine (10.7%) while those of transport equipment rose by 30.8%, led by motor vehicles (39.3%) and cars (39.7%). Exports from Japan rose by 22.1% yoy to JPY 8,061.9 billion in August 2022, less than market consensus of 23.6% and after a 19.0% increase in July.
